APPROACH TO COACHING

Jill believes that leaders who seek strategic advice or coaching to enhance their skills and abilities do not need an “overhaul” or a “make over”; they need a collaborative partner to improve their effectiveness and confidence in their leadership role. Jill is a practical person and brings this approach to assignments by using practical solutions and approaches rather than theory. As a trial lawyer, Jill has developed strong strategic skills and uses her trial background to help leaders enhance their strategic thinking and planning so that they learn to make decisions by considering not only the impact of the decision today, but its impact in the future.  Jill also helps leaders move past all or nothing approaches to decision making and learn to create and evaluate problems and solutions with a spectrum of choices in mind.

Strategic advising and coaching help high potential leaders prepare for career advancement as they transition from the business of tactics and operations to the business of people. Jill also helps leaders who are struggling and may be derailing in their current role.  Through a strategic partnership with leaders, Jill can also help successful leaders enhance their existing skills to change or grow an organization or its culture.

Organizations and teams often struggle when in times of growth and change. If not recognized early, teams become dysfunctional, productivity suffers, and employee retention becomes problematic.  Jill believes that strengthening teams and organizations is best done as a collaborative group effort.  Jill works with teams and organizations to clarify roles and responsibilities, develop effective ways to communicate, and strengthen team culture.

Engagements are tailored to the needs of each leader and organization. Jill uses assessments and feedback to identify areas for behavioral change and steps toward agreed upon goals.
