Leading from the inside out

Many view leadership as isolating, lonely, and all engrossing. Leaders often feel solely responsible for the organization's success and that they have little time for family and friends. Others may be subject matter experts – technicians of undeniable skill – but their extensive education and expertise did not give them the people skills to be effective in today’s highly diverse, highly competitive, and often chaotic workplace. Still others – and their ranks are numerous - worry that they are not on top of things and are losing control. They may seriously question whether they have what it takes to lead.

Teams sometimes experience anxiety and dysfunction, particularly as an organization grows. While all of the team's "oars are in the water," teams sometimes find themselves rowing in different directions, and struggle to move forward together.

In the vast majority of these situations, these fears and concerns are unfounded. Those talented individuals and teams have what is needed to gain control and succeed. What they need is an ally.

Jill Goldsmith is that ally.

Using strength-based approaches and extensive business savvy, Jill Goldsmith works as a collaborative partner with leaders and teams to help them develop a a larger and stronger toolkit of skills and strategies so they are more effective and more likely to achieve their goals.

Jill also believes that leaders and organizations can develop by repositioning the leader. Regardless of reporting structures, by helping leaders work from the inside out of an interconnected and collaborative organization, leaders and their teams increase their effectiveness and productivity, and feel less frustrated and stressed.

How does she help them achieve this?

By focusing on the “internals” and not the “externals.” Jill’s “leadership from the inside out” strategy follows a basic truth: Internal development leads to external achievement. If you overlook or rush past the internal, you are unlikely to achieve your external goals.

This is not done via motivational talks, theory, or some fad of the month.  Jill assists leadership at all levels of an organization by providing practical guidance on interpersonal communication, strategy development, organizational development, conflict management, and a host of other issues that can foil promising careers and keep people from achieving their full potential.

Developing leaders from the inside out also recognizes that the best leaders are lifelong learners and that self-development never ends. Successful leaders understand that emotional intelligence, communication skills, and mindfulness are important tools that help to communicate vision and motivate others.

Jill helps those leaders and teams become extraordinary.
